Update History



Closure and phased reopening of campus facilities

Campus facilities were closed "from April 7 (Tues.) until further notice" due to the spread of Pneumonia Associate with the 2019 Novel Coronavirus; however, as the state of emergency declared by the government was lifted, Keio University will be taking the following steps. (Updated June 5, 2020)

Until Sunday, June 7, the campuses will continue to be off limits and campus facilities and offices will remain closed.
From Monday, June 8 onward, phased usage of some facilities will be implemented in order to conduct education and research at Keio campuses once safety can be ensured from the standpoint of preventing viral infections. For details, please check "Use of campus facilities".
During spring semester AY2020,There will be no face-to-face teaching and from the class start date, courses will continue to be provided online. Please check the announcements made by respective faculties.

【Procedures during the office closure for the summer break】
・During the office closure, certificate issuing machines will not be available.
・Applications by mail or online form during the office closure (certificate issuance, reissuance of student ID card, change of address, etc.) will be handled after the period of closure.

From Monday, June 8, the certificate issuing machines will resume operation. (Updated June 5, 2020)
If you urgently require certificates, please confirm the situation regarding the use of facilities at each campus.

  • If you will use the certificate issuing machines at Hiyoshi (Fourth Building: Section B), or SFC (Main Building), please apply in advance using the below application form (different for each campus) (use of machines by students affiliated to other campuses permitted).

  • From Monday, July 6, you can use the certificate issuing machines at Mita campus without prior application. (use of machines by students affiliated to other campuses permitted). (Updated: July 3)


To operate the Certificate Issuing Machines, students must have their Student ID card and 4-digit "Student ID Card PIN." In advance of using a Certificate Issuing Machine, log in to the Keio University Academic Affairs Web System and confirm your Student ID Card PIN as necessary.
Certificates cannot be issued without a valid Student ID card. In case of loss, students must apply to have their Student ID card re-issued before they can use the Certificate Issuing Machines. Please check the "Re-Issuing Student ID Card, Enroll Confirmation Sticker" below.

Issuance by mail

There is currently a backlog of applications, and it takes several days until dispatch. Please use the PDF file below to explain to the person in charge of each company or organization that is requesting a certificate.

Student Travel Fare Discount Certificates (Gakuwari)

Student Travel Fare Discount Certificates can be issued at the certificate issuing machines.

If you wish to issue Student Travel Fare Discount Certificates by mail, please apply using the following online form. (Updated: July 17)


*We will send you 4 Gakuwari by post. The postage is free.
*If you apply by Sunday of each week, we will probably send out by the end of that week.
*We only mail to domestic addresses.

Re-Issuing Student ID Card, Enroll Confirmation Sticker

Although phased usage of campus facilities will be implemented from June 8 onward, the situation regarding the reopening of offices differs between campuses. (Updated: June 5)

If a student id card will be re-issued, a enroll confirmation sticker which is affixed to the back of their student ID card will also be re-issued.(Updated: May 8)

Change Address/Guarantor

Although phased usage of campus facilities will be implemented from June 8 onward, the situation regarding the reopening of offices differs between campuses.
Please promptly carry out the required procedures if your address (or your guarantor's address) or guarantor has changed. (Updated: June 8)


Change to student address

After logging in to keio.jp, select "Update and Confirm Your Address" from the "Academic Affairs Web System" and apply to update your details.
If everything is satisfactory, the application will be approved in a few days and the information registered with the university will be updated.


Change to guarantor address

Please prepare for your guarantor's Certificate of Residence issued within last three months, and apply through the following form to change the guarantor address.



Change of guarantor

Please prepare for your new guarantor's Certificate of Residence issued within last three months, and apply through the following form to change students' guarantor.
Students' guarantor should be an adult who resides in Japan, is responsible for supporting their family financially, and he or she must be able to bear responsibility for the studentʼs academic fees and expenses and personal aff airs. If possible, please designate one of studentʼs parents. If it is not possible for the studentʼs parent to act as the guarantor, please designate a guardian, such as an older sibling, uncle, aunt, or equivalent.



Application for Study Abroad, Temporary Leave of Absence, Withdrawal

Although phased usage of campus facilities will be implemented from June 8 onward, the situation regarding the reopening of offices differs between campuses. (Updated: June 5)
No procedures can be dealt with at the counter nor by post during offices closed. Please take care of your matters after the University closure is terminated. However, some procedures may be done by e-mail. Please check keio.jp for details.


Use of campus facilities (Updated: July 17)

Until Sunday, June 7, the campuses will continue to be off limits and campus facilities and offices will remain closed.
From Monday, June 8 onward, phased usage of some facilities will be implemented in order to conduct education and research at Keio campuses once safety can be ensured from the standpoint of preventing viral infections.

・ Please take your temperature every morning and keep an eye on your physical condition. If you are feeling unwell, please refrain from coming on campus.
・Your body temperature will be checked by thermal camera when coming on campus. If you are suspected of having a fever (37.5 degrees Celsius or higher), your temperature will be taken using a contactless thermometer. You will not be permitted to enter the campus if your temperature is 37.5 degrees Celsius or higher.
・ Please be sure to wear a mask when coming on campus and to present your student ID card at the campus entrance (Front Gate or West Gate). You cannot enter the campus without your student ID card and the mask.
・ Please take care around other people on campus so as to avoid the three Cs (closed spaces/crowded places/close-contact settings).
・ Once you have concluded your business, please promptly vacate the campus and return home.

Preventing infections


Having fever above 37.5 Celsius or Having symptoms of Pneumonia associated with 2019 Novel Coronavirus

●If you match the following description, please remain in self-isolation and report to Keio University Health Center.

  • Having fever above 37.5 Celsius, increasing sense of malaise, or breathing troubles

●If you meet any of the following criteria, please refrain from coming to university for 14 days after the date of entry, remain in self-isolation and report to Keio University Health Center.

  • Having contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) without adequate protection to prevent infection
  • Entering Japan from countries and regions ranked Level 3 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' infection danger level within past 2 weeks
  • Having contact with someone who entered Japan from countries and regions ranked Level 3 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' infection danger level within past 2 weeks

Traveling overseas

In accordance with the infection danger level that is set by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, students are, in principle, prohibited from travelling to following countries and regions until the danger level is lowered from the current level of 2.

If you return or enter Japan within past 2 weeks

Please continue to observe your health by taking your temperature twice daily for a period of two weeks from the day you return to or enter Japan (applicable to all people returning to/entering Japan from overseas).

If you entered Japan from countries and regions ranked Level 2 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' infection danger level, please quarantine yourself and avoid unnecessary outing for 2 weeks after the date of entry. Please continue to strictly monitor your health throughout this period, and wear a face mask when going out.

In case of entering Japan from countries and regions ranked Level 3 within past 2 weeks, or having had contact with people who have entered Japan from countries and regions ranked Level 3 within past 2 weeks, students are prohibited from going to school and must remain in quarantine for 2 weeks after the date of entry or contact. If you are planning to come to Japan via countries and regions ranked Level 2, including transit, make sure to act well in advance before the new semester in case of more immigration restriction. If you are planning to enter Japan from other countries and regions, prepare for change in situation and act in advance anyway.
