Application guidelines for "food assistance" to protect the livelihood of Keio students (AY2021; second call)

The impact of the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) is also affecting the financial situation of Keio students. There are students who have no choice but to cover most of their living expenses through earnings from part-time work due to the financial difficulties of their families, living away from home, etc., but because of reductions in their income, it is thought that some students are finding it difficult to afford sufficient food on a daily basis. With the hope of easing some of the anxieties of these students and helping them maintain the conditions that will enable them to devote themselves to their studies as much as possible, we have decided to continue providing assistance relating to "food" in the Spring Semester. (This assistance is to be provided with the cooperation of the Keio Co-op.) If you would like to receive assistance, please apply in accordance with the following procedures.

1 Details of assistance

Selected students will receive "food vouchers" worth 3000 yen (10 × 300 yen vouchers) that can be used to purchase meals or groceries at the University Co-op Cafeteria or University Co-op Store on each campus.

Shops accepting vouchers
University Co-op Cafeteria (Mita, Hiyoshi, Yagami, Shonan Fujisawa)
University Co-op Store (Mita, Hiyoshi, Yagami, Shinanomachi, Shonan Fujisawa, Shiba-Kyoritsu)

※The "food vouchers" can be used at cafeterias and stores on all campuses.
※The expiration date of the "food vouchers" is December 10. (However, if you will lose your status as a student before this date due to graduation, completion, withdrawal, etc., the expiration date of the vouchers will be the last day that you are registered as a student.)

2 Number of recipients

500 students (second call; tentative)

3 Eligibility

(Only those who meet conditions ① and ② below are eligible to apply.)

① Students enrolled at an undergraduate faculty or graduate school (including international students)
However, non-degree students, including non-degree students (for credit), and correspondence course students are not eligible to apply.
② Students who must cover their academic fees and expenses and grocery costs through income earned from part-time work, but who are worried because they are not earning enough money due to the closure of their places of employment or employers currently refraining from opening their businesses.

※Those who were approved at the time of the first recruitment are also permitted to apply; however, anyone who has not taken receipt of food vouchers issued after the first call at co-op cafeterias by September 30 will be given lower priority during the screening.
※Privately financed international students who have not yet completed the "scholarship applicant registration" for the Spring Semester are also eligible to apply.

4 Selection criteria

(Students who meet the following criteria will be given preference during selection.)

  • Students from households receiving support from public support programs for measures against COVID-19 implemented by the national or local governments. (At the time of application, please scan and upload a copy of the certificate, etc., showing that you are receiving support from a public support program.)
  • Students from "single-parent" households
  • Students who live away from home and their parents and commute to university, but due to difficulties in the financial situation of the household, are not receiving enough funds from home.(Household budget guideline: the total income of the salaries of those supporting the household [in principle, your parents] is around 7 million yen or less as well as their business income is about 3 million yen or less if they have any other income but a salary.)

※We may refer to the information on the financial situation of your household that you submitted when you applied for scholarships.
※If your address is different from the "current address" you have registered with the university, please carry out procedures immediately to change your address.
