[Important notification] Please fully cooperate with refraining from group meals!

April 20, 2021

To all Keio students:

Keio University Student Affairs Center

The spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus disease) is gathering momentum. Infections by a highly contagious variant strain that causes the rapid onset of symptoms is quickly spreading, especially among younger generations, and it has been indicated that there is a risk of severe illness. Keio has repeatedly requested its students to thoroughly implement measures to prevent the spread of infections. We once more ask students to continue with these efforts and strongly request that they cooperate fully with refraining from the following points in particular:

1. Group meals
2. Conversing without masks

Of infection cases among students to date, the above two factors account for a particularly high proportion of the likely causes of infection. Group meals, regardless of whether held indoors or outdoors, are especially dangerous. You are strongly requested to refrain from drinking parties, welcome parties, etc., which pose the highest risk. Furthermore, conversing without wearing a mask, even if maintaining a distance of one meter, also poses a risk of infection. Please keep your distance and always wear a mask when talking in classrooms, cafeterias, locker rooms, etc.

At the Student Affairs Center, we have consistently urged Keio students to refrain from group meals involving multiple participants other than family members and roommates as well as the adoption of basic precautions to prevent the spread of infections, including wearing masks, hand hygiene, and gargling.

Each and every Keio student is requested to maintain strict vigilance to ensure that they "do not get infected themselves" or "infect others," while being highly mindful of their role as a Keio student and acting responsibly to help maximize efforts to prevent infections and the spread of the disease.
