Scholarship application procedures following the closure of campus facilities

Following the Closure of university campuses due to the spread of infections by COVID-19 (coronavirus disease), university offices (*) are closed for an undefined period which began on Tuesday, April 7. Scholarship applications for the duration of the office closure period will be handled as follows.

・Scholarship applications will be accepted "by post."
・Even if the application deadline falls during the period for which the office is closed, please be sure to send the application documents so that they arrive at the university by the deadline.
・During the period for which the office is closed, scholarship applications cannot be accepted at the counter. We will also be unable to take inquiries by telephone.
・Please confirm at the relevant campus regarding scholarships managed by each undergraduate faculty and graduate school.
・If you have any questions, please contact us using the inquiry form for enrolled students.

For some scholarships, the "application deadline" has been changed to a date earlier than the original deadline. Please be careful.

How to apply (scholarships of private foundations, etc., internal scholarships)
*Up until the day before the start of classes

For the time being, we are accepting application documents sent by post. Please follow the following steps.

・Application submission [first application of the academic year]

1) Log into the "Online Scholarship Application System" from keio.jp (*1) and enter the required items.
2) Finalize the "Application Form" and the "Applicant Information Sheet" on the system and print them. (It is not necessary to print out these documents at this time. It will become possible to finalize these documents from April 1 onward.)
3) A set of submission documents excluding the "Application Form" and the "Applicant Information Sheet" (*2, *3) must be sent using one of the following methods to the Office of Student Services on your affiliated campus to arrive no later than the application deadline date.   <Japan Post> Letter Pack Light, Letter Pack Plus, simplified registered mail, certified registered mail
  *1 If you are a new graduate school student and have not yet acquired an ID for keio.jp, please check here.
  *2 Please do not fold the documents when you post them. Please use a "square 2 envelope" unless sending by Letter Pack.
  *3 Please download the documents included in the Scholarship Information Guidebook (booklet) from here.
  *4 Please make sure you have a copy with you before mailing the documents.

4) Once you have sent the documents, please send an e-mail detailing the following information to the e-mail address designated for your campus. ★In order to confirm your identity, please ensure that you send the e-mail from your keio.jp account. (→Click here for details of where to send)

・Confirming arrival of Application Form

If the Application Form you sent has been accepted by the university, the screening status will display "Screening" on the "Confirm scholarship applications and status for receipt of scholarship payments" screen of the Online Scholarship Application System. If the screening status for you application does not change to "Screening" and it appears that no messages have been sent to your keio.jp e-mail account from the university office in charge, even though several days have elapsed since you sent the application, please confirm the delivery status of your package with the delivery service that you used, and inquire with the Office of Student Services on your affiliated campus at least five working days after the date that your documents should have arrived at the university.

・Resubmission or correction of incomplete or incorrect documents

If the application documents that we received are incomplete or incorrect, a message informing you that your application will need to be revised will be sent to your keio.jp e-mail account from the university office in charge. Please follow the instructions and submit or correct any incomplete or incorrect documents. If you do not resolve the issues that have been identified with your application, you will be placed at a disadvantage during the screening process. 


・Results of screening

You will be contacted separately by the university office in charge if you cleared the document screening and are eligible for an interview or if you passed the final screening and were selected as a student to be recommended by the university. You will not be contacted separately if you were not selected. ("Not selected" will be displayed on the Online Scholarship Application System.)

・Submission of the original "Application Form" and "Applicant Information Sheet"

After classes have begun, immediately print out the "Application Form" and the "Applicant Information Sheet," and submit the original documents with your seal affixed to the Office of Student Services on your affiliated campus. If you do not submit these documents, your selection will be rescinded. (Submission of the original documents is required even in the case that incomplete or incorrect documents were sent electronically.)

How to apply (Japan Student Services Organization (JASSO) Scholarships, Japanese Government's "New Study Support System for Higher Education")

It is differet for each campus. First consult with the scholarship section on your campus.

How to apply (Emergency Student Support Handout for Continuing Studies)

The Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) has issued a notice regarding the Emergency Student Support Handout for Continuing Studies, which provides emergency cash payments to prevent students, etc., who are facing difficulties continuing their studies due to a reduction in income from part-time jobs, etc., as a result of the spread of COVID-19 from giving up their studies.

How to apply(Japan Student Services Organization's (JASSO) "Emergency Interest-free Loan-type Scholarships")

The "Emergency Interest-free Loan-type Scholarships" system provides special loans urgently needed for a fixed period (until March 2021) as an additional support measure for students who are experiencing a significant financial impact on their student life as a result of dramatic decreases in household income, income from part-time work, etc., due to the spread of infections by COVID-19 (coronavirus disease).
