In the current state of the world, it is important to have local information and to be prepared to arrange for medical care and emergency transportation in the event that you are struck by a terrorist attack or large-scale natural disaster overseas. Furthermore, if you get sick or injured outside Japan, you may incur large bills for medical treatment and transportation, and claiming or collecting compensation in an accident in which you were the victim can be difficult.
