Overseas Travel Insurance and Emergency Assistance

The latest notice and information with the change of Academic Calendar and the Campus Shutdown are available on News at the keio.jp Portal. Be sure to check them.

In the current state of the world, it is important to have local information and to be prepared to arrange for medical care and emergency transportation in the event that you are struck by a terrorist attack or large-scale natural disaster overseas. Furthermore, if you get sick or injured outside Japan, you may incur large bills for medical treatment and transportation, and claiming or collecting compensation in an accident in which you were the victim can be difficult.

Keio University requires students participating in courses overseas to enroll in a specific overseas travel insurance, which includes emergency assistance. Examples of courses held overseas are Study Abroad Courses for Language Communication Courses, Special Research Projects, and Fieldwork etc.

Enrollment Process

1.KAE will send the student participating in courses overseas a link to the application form for the comprehensive overseas travel insurance by email.
The student must go to the link and fill out all the necessary items.

2.The student pays the total amount to the designated bank account by the deadline.

3.After the payment is confirmed, KAE completes the process and sends the student an insurance certificate. Enrollment in the insurance includes registration with "tabireji" (a registration system provided by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for those who are going or planning to go abroad) so it is not necessary for the student to register their travel information.
